Day Seven of the 12 Days of Christmas Exchange

Today it is raining. I know that I am lucky to live in Southern California where it practically never rains and it truly never snows. But, this rain is bumming me out. It is cold, it is windy, and it is gray. How do you deal with this depressing weather? I'm spoiled. I want sunshine.  

So I am pulling in rays of light in the form of this beautiful gift from Crystal. If you don't know Crystal's work, be sure to check out her blog and her store. When I look at Crystal's ornament, I think of all the holes we human beings have in our hearts. We try to fill ourselves up with wealth, fame, or another person. But we remain empty. Sadly, some try to fill up this hole with drugs or alcohol. And they remain empty.

"Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary." Galatians 6:9

Fill yourself with God and you will never be empty again.

"You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. Deuteronomy 6:5

Two Turtle Doves

It's the second day of Christmas in our ornament exchange. And Day Two belongs to my sweet friend, Pilar. I've known Pilar for several years now and she is a treasure to me. Not only is she an inspiring and fabulous artist but she is wickedly funny, super smart, and very dear. I can't wait to see what she has made!

Pilar came over today to meet Faelan. She made him the softest doggie wubbie (blanket) that he is in love with. Thank you, again, Pip!

i've always had a thing for cherries. i will definitely be saving these adorable shiny red trinkets.

And look at what she made for us!!

 

It is a beautifully beaded and stitched Scottish prayer flag, or clootie.

 

Pilar is a wonderful beader. She can stitch and sew like nobody's business. If I had tried to sew these tiny beads on this lovely dove, I would have cried.
