You may have noticed that I haven't been blogging much and it seems I've been making jewelry even less. Life is like a train in the tunnel, surprising, moving so fast, and illuminating. It doesn't leave as much time for my creative work lately. Or maybe that time is just being filled with two little boys, a puppy, and all manner of running about.
That said, I happened into Michael's a few weeks ago and found Susan Lenart Kazmer's new Industrial Chic line of jewelry components. They are fabulous!
I bought a few of the fun pieces, like this little red car, and made a lively piece that I call the Carnival Fetish Necklace.
In addition to the Industrial Chic components, it has lots of my own personal collected treasures on it, like this very tiny old rhinestone cross and a highly faceted onion cut green amethyst.
It also has my very favorite deep red faceted garnets, turquoise, long golden coral sticks, bone, a little brass locket, flowers, a heart, an enameled green drop i made, a virgin Mary charm, a quartz leaf, red freshwater pearls, yellow jade, and a tiny ceramic bird. Can you tell why I gave it the name I did?
The clasp is a chunky sterling silver shepherd's hook.
I used some fat textured Industrial Chic circles along with a figure eight link made of steel to create the sizable chain. You can learn to make this same figure 8 link in my book A Charming Exchange.
And, after I finished it I discovered that there's a contest at Susan's blog for pieces using her new Industrial Chic elements. So I've entered my Carnival Fetish Necklace and hope you'll give me a vote, if you are so inclined. They are going to be showing once piece a day and then opening the contest up for voting. You can go to the website HERE. I'll holler again as the voting opens.
Thanks for visiting with me!
