i am not a joiner. if you are putting things in your back yard to rot, i will get my rake out and clear up the leaves for the first time all winter. i just don't want to do what everyone else is doing. not there's anything wrong with it. i just don't want to. and don't get me started on marie antoinette. my own head will most likely go rolling off if i have to think about that one. sorry but jumping on the band wagon is not my thing. to each his own, right.
having said all this, i was reading my friend francie's blog this morning. she is joining French Toast Girl by creating every day in may. that is something i can get behind. a little motivation is a powerful thing.
here's how it works:
Create something every day in the month of May.
You don't have to finish something every day but work on something each and every day. French Toast Girl says that one year she actually did a painting every single day and felt very rushed. so this year she's going to just do the work each day.
i say, give it your best shot and see what you can accomplish. make something small, collaged, photographed, written, painted, hammered, wire-wrapped, whatever. at the end of the month you will have so much to show for your efforts.
maybe you won't love them all. maybe you will. but, i know from experience that when i work every day i get so much better. my mind can go past all the usual starting up troubles and worries and just leap right to the good parts. your brain learns shortshand and is able to move into the groove so much more quickly. and, the only way to improve at anything is to Do It.
so come one. every day in may. get your but in the chair and work!
wanna play?

This sounds good but May is not the month for me to play everyday sad-lay. :-( I will try and keep up with you for the first week or so though, before life is going to get in the way ! I like that intention very much though !I hope you will share your stuff periodically too as you go through the 31 days.
Kelly, I have to say, I just love your paintings. Every one seems to reach out and get me somewhere deep. This chick in red is another beautiful winner!
Happy May Day and Friday !

Being the joiner that I am, I must try this. I would love to create something every day in May, but certainly I can try to at least work on something. Even if it is just a funky sketch right? I love the face, her pouty lips and big eyes and of course the red!

Oh, you're awful! Just when I was thinking about spooling down a little...I've been MIA for weeks now, under a heap of S T U F F that needs doing and just keeps getting bigger. You'll be proud of me, though...I have delegated a few things to my darling Nat. Every day in May, huh? I'll see what I can do...
