It's been colder here than I remember for a very long time. The kids actually saw frost on the playground at school. Now I know that's surely not a big deal to most of the folks across this great snowy land. But for a couple little beach boys in Southern California, that's memorable.
i took the kids to see santa after school yesterday. my oldest is nine and he really didn't want to go. mostly he didn't want to sit on santa's lap. i told him to say "no thank you" when santa asked him to sit on his lap.
santa was at lunch when we arrived...
don't mess with santa
so when the boys finally reached the front of the line and walked over to talk to the big guy, my littlest dude was immediately launched onto santa's knee. one of the elves was standing in front of my other son so i couldn't hear what he was saying as santa asked him to sit on his lap. but i could see him quickly sit on a small bench next to santa. i think it is provided for a parent when a child is a little scared of the man in red.
then i see my son saying "no thank you" and giving the universal hand signal for "no more" by putting his hand out, palm flat, and waving it back and forth. no sooner did he do this than the big old guy reached over, grabbed him under both arms, and hauled him onto his knee. oooooh! so much for being too big!
and, thankfully, the first born son did not tell santa he wants the $400 Lego Death Star from Star Wars. that's all he has talked about for the last six months. i told him i just couldn't go along with buying a $400 Lego set. he explained it quite clearly to me that if Santa brings it no one is buying it. whew. luckily he asked Santa for a more reasonably priced Star Wars Lego set that I am certain Santa has set aside for him already.
i am getting ready to visit my favorite girl in her most glorious store with my bestest fun friend this morning. i'm sure i'll have photos to share with you later. i may be a bit scarce in the blog world these next few days as i am soaking up every drop of holiday cheer with my family and friends. i hope you are having the greatest time of your life, too!!

Your bestest fun friend? I'm not going to be there!!!
I love the photo of the boys- Finn looks just perfect on Santa's lap!

MY boy is reading over my shoulder. As I scrolled down he yelled "STAR WARS, I just saw Star Wars mentioned on that page!"
Maybe Santa could pool a bunch of kids together and they could all have joint custody of it (har har har).
Tristan had 5 STar Wars Legos on his Christmas List... and that was it! LOL The Death Star though wasn't on the list ;0)

That was a great Santa ... I think if I had tugged on that beard, it would have gotten a yelp out of him! I get a kick out of seeing my own Santa throughout the year, and pulled up behind him twice this season at the post office. He was in his sweats, though, not his red suit, which is still a great look for him...

I know the feeling. My oldest is 11 and youngest is nine. So even thought they don't "believe" in Santa anymore they still wanted to go see him at the mall...go figure? Crazy kids.

Great Santa pics and the progessive dinner looked like an elegant and kooky fun evening.
Please look out for yourself and now that I know a little bit about astrology, thanks to you, I will be more careful, too!
